Rachel Elam is a seasoned advocate for social impact with over 15 years of experience in tech, storytelling, and brand strategy. She is dedicated to helping people and brands tell their stories in ways that inspire change and foster connection. As the founder of Bright Light Portfolio, Rachel partners with mission-driven organizations on projects ranging from ESG reporting and legacy writing for philanthropic endowments to crafting national marketing campaigns for nonprofits. Her recent work includes advising companies on CSR strategy, writing executive thought leadership, and scriptwriting for the docu-series On Purpose, which highlights companies’ efforts to differentiate their community impact.
Rachel previously led brand strategy and communications for the Vice President of Global Business Marketing at Facebook, where she launched Social Good Brand Partnerships to empower brands to take a stand on societal issues. She led partnerships with Dove, Adidas, and Nike, including Dove’s well-being program, which debuted at a 2020 UK Parliamentary hearing as a model of “Tech for Good.” Her background includes international grant writing, advocacy, and her MPA in public affairs, equipping her to drive impact at the intersection of technology and public policy.
Rachel's work has appeared in New York Magazine, American Writers Review, and Las Laguna Gallery, with her short story, ‘Seven Nights of Shiva,’ was selected as a runner-up for the 2023 Stella Kupferberg Prize by Anthony Doerr. As a mindfulness teacher since 2012, she designs and facilitates workshops that promote well-being and empower individuals to connect with themselves, others, and a higher purpose. Rachel co-founded Facebook’s Meditation Program, where she guided live-streamed mindfulness sessions for a global audience and built a global wellbeing ambassadors program.
